Salburua is an area in the outskirts of Vitoria, Spain with a rather low population density. As a result, most public spaces are over dimensioned for it's current population, leading to the area becoming a ghost town and commerce becoming unsustainable for most spaces. This project is part of an re-densification proposal for the area in order to solve the previously stated issues. The strategy of implantation lies on the creation of four dense residential blocks between four already existing residential towers. The apartments aim to restructure the current apartment typology's in Spain by introducing a much more open floorplan with a terrace that surrounds the entirety of the living space, providing interior spaces that can be opened fully to the exterior. As of writing this we are currently amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and now more than ever we can see how such an interior-exterior relationship is beneficial for users.
