The project is located on the outskirts of Granada within a sugar plantation that has been deemed a cultural heritage. Due to the lack of use within this site, the architectural structure of this building has started to slowly fall apart, and security and maintenance for the building has become unsustainable. Due to these factors, the project proposes to rehabilitate the sugar plantation into a center of culinary and gastronomy arts, as well as a center for investigation. The project also includes a boutique hotel and residential apartments which were analyzed to be on high demand within Granada. The purpose of these interventions are to bring new life into this cultural heritage, as well as giving it financial backing to maintain it in good conditions.
The project focuses on the concept of boundaries. In order to respect the architecture of this cultural heritage, the interventions are done occupying the perimeters of the site, allowing the original sugar plantation to become the uninterrupted heart of the project.
